V naší dílně pořádáme exkurze pro školy a školky. Na začátku vždy vyprávím dětem o mýdlech. Všichni se hlásí, že mají mýdlo doma. Někdo tekuté, někdo tuhé, všichni vědí, o čem je řeč. Ale málokdo už ví, z čeho se pravé mýdlo vyrábí a jak vlastně funguje. A tak dětem říkám, že v mýdle jsou malí panáčci, kteří mají dvě ručičky. Jednu dlouhou, která chytá špínu, nečistoty, bakterie. A druhou krátkou, která se chytne vody a tím se všechna špína spláchne pryč.
A ono to tak fakt je. Víte proč?
Každý, kdo začíná s výrobou přírodních mýdel, se asi nejdřív učí vyrábět podle osvědčených receptur z internetu nebo z knih. Aspoň já jsem to tak dělala. Svoje první mýdlo jsem vyrobila na začátku roku 2012 a bylo to Marseillské mýdlo. Proč jsem si vybrala zrovna tohle, dá se říct legendární, mýdlo? Protože jsem ho znala a dočetla jsem se, že skvělé. Tenkrát jsem věděla, že je to jemné rostlinné mýdlo, vhodné na citlivou pokožku, i na praní nebo čištění koberců. Navíc se vyrábí z dostupných surovin. Marseillské mýdlo je totiž jakékoliv mýdlo z rostlinných tuků založené na olivovém oleji. Do dneška si pamatuju tuhle mojí první recepturu. Byla ze 75% olivového oleje a 25% kokosového oleje. Nic navíc. A co byste řekli, fakt to fungovalo. Tenkrát jsem vůbec nevěděla co čekat a co se bude dít. Přišlo mi to jako kouzlo, když se oleje začaly měnit, a nakonec z nich vzniklo krásně světle zelené mýdlo s jemnou pěnou a velkými bublinami. Charakter bublin my mýdlaři totiž docela sledujeme.
Pouhé dva oleje tedy stačily k výrobě jednoho z nejznámějších tradičních mýdel.
To, že mýdlo je z olejů, udivuje nejen děti na exkurzích, ale i dospělé. Jak může z oleje vzniknout ta tvrdá kostka, která pění, a právě oleje a tuky dokáže umýt? No, a kdo by to řekl, ono to spolu souvisí.
CHEMICKÉ OKÉNKO
Olej/tuk se totiž skládá z mastných kyselin. A mýdlo je sůl mastné kyseliny.
Co udělá z tuku tu sůl? Hydroxid. Sodný nebo draselný. Při výrobě tuhého mýdla používáme hydroxid sodný. Díky němu se přemění tuk na mýdlo. Hydroxid se při tom celý spotřebuje, takže v mýdle už po něm není ani stopy. Pokud tedy máme dobrou recepturu a správný výrobní postup.
Mastné kyseliny jsou takové dlouhé řetězce rozpustné v tucích. Při výrobě tuhého mýdla se na ně naváže sodík, a vznikne sodná sůl. Ta má dva konce. Jeden dlouhý, rozpustný v tuku, ten pochází z mastné kyseliny. Druhý, krátký, ten se váže na vodu. A máme toho panáčka, o kterém jsem psala na začátku.
Díky dlouhému řetězci se na mýdlo naváží nečistoty. Sodík/draslík na druhém konci se zase váže k vodě. Na tomto principu funguje nejen mýdlo, ale i jiné detergenty, tedy látky, které se používají k mytí.
Vedlejší produkt reakce zmýdelnění je glycerin. Ten zůstává v ručně vyráběných mýdlech obsažen, a přispívá k jemnosti a zvláčňujícím schopnostem mýdla. Taky ale způsobuje, že jsou tato mýdla měkčí. Glycerin totiž na sebe váže vodu. A to dokonce i ze vzduchu. Už víte, proč se blbě prodávají mýdla na trzích po dešti?
To bylo chemické okénko. Teď už víme, že základem mýdla je tuk a hydroxid. Jen tohle dvojí stačí, aby nám vzniklo mýdlo.
Jaké tuky ale pro výrobu zvolit?
KOUZLO RECEPTUR
Mýdlo má hned několik kouzel. Tedy aspoň mě, mýdlovému nadšenci, se to zdá. Jedno z těch kouzel je, že můžete vytvořit nespočet různých receptur. Mýdlo nabízí velký prostor pro experimentování. Pro jeho výrobu totiž můžete použít prakticky jakékoliv tuky nebo oleje. Kromě například minerálního oleje. Ten neobsahuje mastné kyseliny, a je tedy jasné, že z něj mýdlo nevytvoříme.
Začneme jednoduše. Pro výrobu mýdla můžeme použít klidně jen jeden tuk/olej.
Tradičním příkladem takového mýdla je Kastilské mýdlo ze 100% olivového oleje. Tato osvědčená receptura se vyrábí už aspoň 1000 let. Mýdlo je extra jemné, velmi šetrné, tvrdé a dlouho vydrží. Má slabší pěnu a někomu může přijít na omak lehce mazlavé. Je světle zelené, odstín se liší dle použitého olivového oleje. Zajímavostí je, že potřebuje dlouho zrát, několik měsíců, i rok. Používá se na extra citlivou a suchou pokožku, k mytí obličeje, někdo ho má rád i na vlasy. Je vhodné i k čistění choulostivých materiálů jako jsou perské koberce nebo tadelakt.
Dalším klasickým příkladem jednosložkového mýdla je mýdlo ze 100% sádla. To je také velmi jemné a šetrné. Je tvrdé a dlouho vydrží. Má bohatší krémovitou pěnu. A je i krémově bílé. Mně osobně se líbí, že je typicky české. Tohle mýdlo je vhodné na mytí celého těla, ale dá se použít i na čištění nebo úklid.
Zrovna tyto dva tuky/oleje udělají samy o sobě skvělé mýdlo. Jsou ale i oleje, ze kterých sice můžeme vyrobit jednosložkové mýdlo, s výsledkem ale asi nebudeme úplně spokojeni. Mýdlo třeba nebude pěnit, nebo bude hrozně měkké. Takže začneme přemýšlet, že bychom raději oleje nějak nakombinovali. A tak se to taky ve většině receptur na přírodní mýdla dělá.
